In recent years, there have been hundreds of fascinating developments in the world of green and eco-friendly technology. Many of these inventions seem like something out of a science fiction novel, and ten years ago most of the ideas would be laughed at. One such idea may very well be the concept of capturing electricity produced by insects to light street lamps.

How do insects and bacteria produce electricity? They are removing contaminants in water and soil.  Scientists have studied the productivity in labs and have been able to keep a single light bulb continuously lit from the electric energy that the bacteria is producing. Scientists believe and are quite sure that they can encourage this project’s development into lighting more than just a single light bulb and cleaning more than just purposefully contaminated water and dirt.
